For over a century, no new brewery has been able to break into the exclusive ranks of Munich’s Big Six.
But a passionate contender is shaking up the Bavarian establishment.
Founded in 2006 as a humble garage project, Giesinger Bräu has grown into a beloved powerhouse of traditional and craft brewing.
In 2019, Giesinger achieved the seemingly impossible: they constructed a €1 million deep well to extract pure Munich city water. This monumental step allowed them to meet the strict legal criteria to officially become the 7th official Oktoberfest brewery.
While they are still actively lobbying for their rightful tent at the official Munich Oktoberfest, you won’t need to travel 16,000 km in a jet (or three) to taste their incredible beer.
Before our 2025 Oktoberfest had even kicked off, we began conversations with Giesinger about this year’s festival, and thanks to their level of determination matching ours, we have a massive shipment of Giesinger kegs due to arrive right here in Brisbane this September.

So for us, it’s not only just the Big Six any more (which in itself is a monumental feat). It’s the Big Six +1.
